The expression of heartfelt gratitude from children is beautiful to behold and certainly gets the attention of the big people in the lives of the kids. Parents will train children to say “thank you” from the child’s earliest years. This in itself becomes a matter of thanksgiving.
Saying thank you is a necessary act of kindness in human relationships, but even more, “we ought always to give thanks to God.” II Thessalonians 1:3. Why? “He gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” Acts 14:17. But that is not all!
The supreme reason for giving thanks is that God has poured out his love in Jesus Christ. All who know God’s Son, give thanks for him, singing with Paul the apostle: “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift [Jesus Christ]!” I Corinthians 9:15.
